It's located right next to the Preston Academy of English, making it a convenient choice for those taking the Life in the UK Test.

If you're planning to take your Life in the UK Test in Preston, the test centre is conveniently situated on Ormskirk Road, just off the A59 in the northern end of the city centre. Access to Preston is facilitated by the M6 and M55 motorways to the east and north, making it easy to get to the city centre by car.



Parking


There are several convenient parking options near the test centre:

  • Bus Station Car Park: Located directly opposite the test centre, a two-hour parking ticket here costs £1.60. Payment options include cash and the RingGo service line. Disabled parking and electronic vehicle charging are available at this location.

  • Penny Street Car Park: Should the bus station car park be full, this alternative is just 150m north of Ormskirk Road. A two-hour ticket costs £1.50.

Bus


Local bus services also provide easy access to the Life in the UK Test centre. Recommended bus stops include Ringway (The Courts), Gardner Street, or the Bus Station itself, all within a short walking distance from Ormskirk Road.

Train


Preston Train Station, roughly one kilometre south-west of the test site, is well-connected to various parts of the UK. The walk to Ormskirk Road takes about thirteen minutes:

  • Walking Route: Head north-east on the A59 through the city centre, turn right onto Lancaster Road, continue for about 50m, then turn left onto Ormskirk Road. The test centre will be eastbound on this road.

While bus services are available, they save only a few minutes and still require a considerable amount of walking. Therefore, we recommend walking from the train station to the test centre.
