Directions

If you're preparing to take your Life in the UK Test in Sheffield, you'll find the test centre located within the Synergy Building on Bank Street, just to the north of the city centre. Motorists should find it straightforward to get to the site as it's well-connected to the M1 motorway via the A61. Please note that you'll need to use the Bank Street entrance to access the testing area.

Parking

Parking around the Synergy Building is relatively convenient:

  • On-Street Parking: Bank Street, Hartshead, and nearby Queen Street offer a reasonable amount of on-street parking spaces.

  • Hartshead Square Car Park: Located just 50m east of the Synergy Building, this multi-storey car park charges £5.90 for a two-hour parking ticket. This should allow sufficient time to get to the venue, complete your test, and return to your vehicle. All types of payment are accepted here.

For additional local parking choices, the relevant Parkopedia page is a useful resource.

Bus

The test centre's central location ensures numerous bus transit lines run nearby. Convenient bus stops to aim for are High Street, Church Street, West Bar/Workhouse Lane, or Castle Street, each within a few minutes' walk of the Synergy Building.

Train

Sheffield offers a reliable local tram service as well:

  • Tram: The Cathedral tram stop, accessible via the yellow, blue, or purple lines, is just 150m south of the Synergy Building.

  • Sheffield Train Station: This major hub is located about a kilometre south of the test site. A 12-minute walk through Pond Street and Arundel Gate will take you north-west onto High Street and High Court, ending at Hartshead Square. The Synergy Building is just 50m east from here, adjacent to Hartshead Square Car Park.

For live train times, station amenities, and accessibility features, please visit the National Rail website.

Due to the proximity of the test venue to public transport, taking a bus will only get you halfway there. However, a blue or purple line tram from the Train Station/Hallam University stop will drop you at Castle Square, only 150m south-east of the site.
