Directions

Car

Workington is a remote town situated on the west coast of Cumbria, approximately 50km south-west of Carlisle. The town is accessible via the A66 from the east and the A596 from the north and south. The test centre is located on High Street (A596), to the south of the town centre.

Parking

While on-site parking is available at the test centre, spaces are not guaranteed. An alternative is the 86 Peter Street Car Park, approximately 650m west of the venue, which offers free parking. From there, head east on Harrington Road, turn right at the roundabout onto Cross Hill, merge onto High Street, and continue to the test centre.

For more parking options, you can consult the relevant Parkopedia page.

Bus

Workington has limited bus services, but the number 52 (Harrington) bus from Workington Bus Station will drop you directly outside the Royal George Pub, just a minute's walk from the test centre. Alternatively, you can walk approximately one kilometre from the bus station to the test centre by heading east through the town centre, then south on King Street, before merging onto High Street (A596).

Train

Workington Train Station is about 1.5km from the test venue and serves various locations in north-western England. You can take the number 51 (Westfield) bus from the station to the Hawkshead Avenue bus stop, just south of High Street. From there, it's about a 650m walk to the test centre.

Alternatively, you can walk the entire distance from the station to the test centre. To do this, head east on Oxford Street and Jane Street, turn right to go south down King Street, and then continue south on High Street (A596). The test centre will be on your left after about 100m.

It's worth noting that the time difference between taking the bus and walking directly to the test centre is negligible, due to the walking distance involved in either option.
