What to Expect on the Day of Your Life in the UK Test

Arrival and Time Commitment at the Test Centre

You'll receive an email specifying the time you should arrive at the test centre. Failure to arrive at the designated time may lead to the cancellation of your test, with no refund provided. Overall, you should anticipate spending up to 2 hours at the test centre.

Identity and Security Checks

Identification Requirements

You must bring the photo ID you used to book the test. Failure to do so will disqualify you from taking the test and no refund will be given. You will also need to agree to have a passport-style photograph taken before the test commences.

Security Procedures

To uphold the test's integrity, security checks are obligatory. If you require privacy during these checks, please inform the Test Centre Manager on the day of the test.

Guidelines for Friends and Family Members

Please note that our centres do not offer childcare or waiting room facilities for non-test takers. Therefore, refrain from bringing children or other family members into the centre.

Inside the Test Room: Rules and Prohibitions

Certain items are strictly prohibited inside the test room:

  • Copies of the handbook or other written materials

  • Electronic devices like mobile phones

  • Wristwatches

Lockers are available for storing these items. A search will be conducted before you're allowed into the test room. Disruptive behaviour is unacceptable, and offenders will be removed without a refund. The test duration is 45 minutes.

Cheating and Unacceptable Behaviour

Engaging in cheating or attempting to cheat during the Life in the UK Test is a grave violation that could severely impact your application for Indefinite Leave to Remain or British citizenship. Should you be caught cheating, you will be barred from completing the test. Additionally, we will notify both the Home Office and the Police, putting you at risk of legal action and jeopardising your status. Refunds for the Life in the UK Test will not be issued, and you may also be blocked from scheduling any future tests required for Indefinite Leave to Remain or British citizenship.
